Uncommon high quality tsuba museum piece made in shakudo ( gold and copper alloy ) with a very well donne carved tiger inlayed in the tsuba made from Shibuichi (silver and copper alloy) or silver. The masterwork is clear in this fantastic piece. Since tigers were not indigenous to Japan and their image was only transmitted from works such as hanging scrolls or ukiyo-e, the faces were partially caricatured during the Edo period.
