Fantastic and rare armour from the mid Edo period circa 1700-1750. Beautiful Gusoku in fantastic condition, complete and match in all its parts. Both strings and lacquer are in a fantastic condition. Black lacquer and brown strings, the 62 plate hull is a wonderful piece of craftsmanship. Includes the original box with the Abe clan mon also shown in the maedate. A real gem worthy of a museum.
It includes the antique box that was used during transport and for display, plus a wooden skeleton to keep it upright. As is normal in a suit of armor with so much history, which was undoubtedly used for combat and is not a mere reproduction of the 20th century, it has some superficial scratches, surface damage and chips that show that it had a long life of combat and retains an authentic and precious historical value worthy of a museum.
