Complete Japanese Samurai Armor – Edo Period

Striking original Japanese samurai armor from the Edo period, presented as a complete and visually powerful ensemble. A piece with strong presence, authority, and refined aesthetics, ideal for high-end collectors or impactful display.

The suji-bachi kabuto, finished in deep dark lacquer, offers a bold and disciplined silhouette. It is fitted with a crescent-moon maedate, visually commanding and integrated into the helmet, even its later period. The contrast between the black lacquer and the golden crest immediately conveys status and distinction.

The metal menpō displays a severe and expressive visage. It no longer retains its shikoro, a discreet absence that does not detract from the visual strength of the armor and remains barely noticeable in frontal display.

The is constructed from horizontally laced lacquered lamellae, bound with dark blue odoshi, creating a rich and uniform surface. Gilded decorative fittings add refinement without disrupting the overall balance of the piece.

The sode, kote, haidate, and suneate are consistent in materials and color, forming a coherent and well-matched set. Minor wear to the cords is present, consistent with age, reinforcing authenticity while preserving a strong overall presentation.

Overall, this is a complete Edo-period armor with commanding visual impact, presence, and clarity. A piece that fills a space effortlessly and communicates value, history, and authority at first glance.
