Koshirae
A koshirae is the complete set of Japanese sword mountings—made to carry, protect, and use the blade—fitted to a specific sword and designed as a coherent, functional ensemble. Its main parts include the tsuka (hilt with ito wrap, samegawa, menuki, fuchi/kashira), tsuba (guard), habaki (blade collar), and saya (scabbard with sageo). Together they combine practical handling with refined craftsmanship and thematic decoration.

Menpo
A menpō is a traditional Japanese samurai face mask (usually iron or hardened leather) that protects the lower face and sometimes the nose and cheeks. It’s laced to the helmet and often includes a throat guard (yodare-kake) for extra defense. Beyond protection, it projects an intimidating presence, often with fierce expressions and dramatic facial features.
