General Description
Katana signed 行貞 (Yukisada), dating from the Edo period (1603–1868).
The blade displays a refined notare-midare hamon (irregular wavy temper) with visible activity throughout its length, and a fine itame-hada grain typical of well-forged Edo workmanship. Its curvature of about 1.5 cm provides an elegant and balanced profile.
The smith Yukisada was active during the Edo period, with documented examples from both Mino-den and Osaka-den traditions—schools known for their strong construction, rich hamon activity, and overall aesthetic harmony.
The sword shows a chu-kissaki and retains good definition between ji and ha, preserving its martial and artistic integrity. It represents a finely balanced example of the Edo samurai’s ideal — practical elegance united with aesthetic refinement.
