Beautifully and magnificently carved netsuke in the shape of a skull. It is an exceptional work with a fantastic quality representing memento mori. The skull is worked with shibayama inlay with mother of pearl and amber and other semi-precious stones to represent various insects coming out of the skull or on the skull. Carved in ivory with signature of the author on the base « Matsuyama ». Meiji Period. Comes with certificate CITES document.
