About The armor:
Beautiful O´yoroi or large armor based on the style of the first samurai armor of the heian and kamakura period, of large size to be used on horseback. The sode or shoulder protectors are anchors to protect against enemy arrows. Unlike the Gusoku, used more for combat on foot, the yoroi did not need to be small in size and weight or too flexible. The main purpose was protection so once displayed they are frankly impressive.
This one dates from the early to mid 19th century. This type of large armor was not worn by the usual samurai, it was for the daimyo as great lords, usually in this pelgrinage to Edo to pay their respects to the Tokugawa shogun once a year. Most parts of the armor are in very good condition and the fabrics as well. It includes several interesting additional items, such as the boots (kegutsu), nice gold details on the shin guards (suneate) and a fabric decoration that protects and embellishes the inner chest armor (do). It is a beautiful and unusual armor and spectacular to look at with its beautiful maedate oni that will impress anyone who sees it.
An authentic samurai armor that will be the central focus of any room where it is placed and that will delight any fan of Japanese art. A great stylish piece that will impress anywhere.
