Beautiful wakizashi of unusual shape specifically designed to improve piercing. During the Mongol invasions of Japan on the island of Tsushima on 12th, the Japanese realized that their armor was more difficult to pierce, so they added new designs to not only cut but also cut through harder materials. The sword is in an excellent state of preservation, with a visible hamon and a high quality construction. A great piece of samurai art without a doubt. Although part of the signature is cut ( suriage) something common in very old swords adapted for combat during the Edo period, it identifies the Mihara school, although it does not state who was the smith of this school who forged it.
Blade is in very good condition due to aging. Not hagire and not fatal damage, of course. This is a japanese weapon so have a real historical value. This is a weapon with centuries, not machine crafted so can be minor movements of saya, tsuka, tsuba, etc. Because of dilatation, humidity, etc. and little damages propers of his age like small rust, scratches, etc.
