Magnificent and very old long wakizashi in original koshirae. It is a very old koshirae judging by its style and patina, from the early Edo period or earlier. It is very rare to find such an old koshirae, as the more delicate elements such as wood, etc. are less resistant to the passage of time. Normally the koshiraes were changed from time to time to adapt them to new fashions and because they were damaged, however judging by the unique mekugi ana (hole in the tang) was the original koshirae of the blade which makes this wakizashi a very original collector’s item. The sword is in good condition although with some combat damage, which gives it a truly historic look. A great collector’s item at a very affordable price for any collector of samurai art or as one of their first pieces.
Blade is in good condition due to aging. Not hagire and not fatal damage, of course. This is a japanese weapon so have a real historical value. This is a weapon with centuries, not machine crafted so can be minor movements of saya, tsuka, tsuba, etc. Because of dilatation, humidity, etc. and little damages propers of his age like small rust, scratches, etc.
