ITEM DESCRIPTION:

Comes with kimono or cotton bag. Comes with certificate of supein Nihonto. Comes with prefecture certificate.

Lovely Tanto signed “備前國住長船春光 Bizen kuni ju osafune harumitsu” on koshirae with tsuka on samegawa (stingray skin) without ito, in the style of the period in red lacquer. Saya in black with remnants of Toyotomi clan inlay. The Toyotomi clan was a Japanese clan that ruled over the Japanese before the Edo period.
The most influential figure within the Toyotomi was Toyotomi Hideyoshi, one of the three “unifiers of Japan”. The blade features a bohi, a clearly visible hamon and a very rich jihada. Numerous details such as nie, nioi, etc. can be seen on the blade. Its condition is very good with only a few superficial scratches. The habbaki is also very remarkable and looks like its extra work. No doubt this sword belonged to a wealthy samurai or nobility.
