Beautiful Tanto form  “Kai Mihara school” in an original koshirae from the early Edo period, elegant and with fantastic details such as the monkey-shaped kashira. This sword is especially rare as the saya, which unlike other swords has the original saya and is not an after added saya that would not have the right size for the blade, this one is custom made for a purpose. Although rare, this type of tantos with an oversized saya was used as a method of distraction. As the saya is longer, the opponent assumes that if you get too close you will not have the correct distance to attack as the sword will not have enough space, but as the blade is shorter than the saya, you will deceive the opponent because you can draw it much closer and much faster than he can. This kind of swords are very rare and a great collector’s item, also considering the high quality of the forging, the elegance of the koshirae and its certificate make it a great piece of samurai history and a great investment.

The blade is in old japanese polish remaining in good condition, the jihada of the steel is detailed and full of details to appreciate. A masterpiece Worthly a museum and a great addition to any private collection.
