Muromachi Period Katana Attributed to Taira Takada school with NBTHK Tokobetsu Kicho certificare. This exceptional katana, attributed to the prestigious Takada school in Bungo province (modern-day Oita prefecture), reflects the rich history and craftsmanship of the late Muromachi period.
The beautiful long sword maintains a great polish despite its centuries of history and is mounted on a koshirae of the middle Edo period with high quality elements. The Koshirae of handachi style includes a large kashira typical of the style, like the old tachis, in iron with gold inlay to match the fuchi. The tsuba is made of iron with decotative elements and inlays. The saya deserves a separate mention with a pattern simulating the skin of great quality, an excellent iron kurigata in the shape of a dragon and an iron kojiri with symbols of the samurai clan to which probably belonged the samurai who wore it. A sword of great quality as a whole that also comes with a certificate of the NBTHK, the most important association of Japanese swords that identifies it as of special importance and quality.
