Beautiful late muromachi period sword Signed 勝道 Katsumichi.
Both the sword and the koshirae are in very good condition. The sword with a traditional tamahagane forging from the muromachi period and with a Suriage. This means that the sword nakago was shortened during the Edo period to make it more practical and comfortable for the fighting of the time, in cities rather than on large battlefields, which required shorter and more manageable swords so that they would not get caught in columns or hit other objects during combat. The koshirae is very antique from muromachi period orvearly edo, very rare to found so antique koshirae mountings.
A very healthy blade with a superb polish on the blade, with only a few small details and superficial scratches that do not affect the quality and strength of the sword. You can clearly see the quality of the sword and the beautiful jihada and hamon produced by the tamahagane steel forging process that used different densities and folds to make Japanese swords, the best swords ever created.
