Spectacular sword signed “kazuhide” and dated Bunsei 12nen 8gatsu (August 1829) 文政十二年八月日
with an original koshirae from the Edo period. This piece, besides having a magnificently preserved polish, is characterized by a unique personality. The koshirae is full of personality as the tsuka still retains traces of blood of its previous owner, from some battle or duel. Normally the white or very light colors were exclusive of great lords or samurai of very high rank.

The explanation on the one hand was the symbolism of the white color as a symbol of purity and on the other hand that stains such as blood or mud from the combats especially of low rank samurai who were the ones who fought the most would be seen too much on a light background so the dark colors were more selected. In spite of this and although it is very rare to see it so well preserved, you can still appreciate clear marks of the owner’s blood. A unique and very special piece with a particular character and energy, especially for those who are looking for something out of the ordinary.

These colors were reserved for high-ranking samurai or daimyos because of their symbolism of purity and because it was not common for them to engage in direct combat regularly which would make them dirty quickly. Very old iron tsuba with some gold and silver inlays and shakudo fuchi kashira complete this beautiful and elegant sword that will certainly delight the guests and will be a great investment in the near future as these pieces are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain, especially this type in practically immaculate condition.

The blade is in old japanese polish remaining in good condition, the jihada of the steel is detailed and full of details to appreciate. A masterpiece Worthly a museum and a great addition to any private collection.

Blade is in very good condition due to aging. Not hagire and not fatal damage, of course. This is a japanese weapon so have a real historical value. This is a weapon not machine crafted so can be minor movements of saya, tsuka, tsuba, etc. Because of dilatation, humidity, etc. and little damages propers of his age like small rust, scratches, etc. Sold as is.
