About the Kabuto:
Edo period (1615-1868), 18th century
Comes with certificate of supein Nihonto. Includes original wood box and NBTHK certificate.
Beautiful Japanese kabuto from Mid-Edo period signed Munemitsu with Tokobetsu shiryo certificate made of iron with a big bee golden maedate in very good condition due the ages. Minor damages almost perfect condition the fabrics and the lacquer. This kind of helmets was used for the high rank samurai as heavy protection.
Material: Heavy iron. A great piece for display or wear. It will be the focal point of any room where it is exposed and will undoubtedly attract all eyes, a beautiful piece of samurai art. See my other samurai items clicking in my sellers name.
The maedate is decorated with the family clan symbol. This kabuto was acquired along with another Tanto at auction from a seller who had owned a small museum that closed a few decades ago. Several clans used this symbol, which was also found on the Tanto: The Kobayakawa, the Gamo or the Bessho.
