ITEM DESCRIPTION:
Comes with kimono or cotton bag. Comes with certificate of supein Nihonto. Comes with prefecture certificate.
Beautiful and elegant early Edo era wakizashi signed “Fujiwara Masayuki” in excellent condition, not only the blade but also the koshirae. The Wakizashi comes with a certificate from the NBTHK tokobetsu kicho, these certificates register it as of special importance and quality. The koshirae includes a beautiful tsuba with shell motifs of the Echizen kinai school, also has similar motifs fuchi and kozuka. In addition, the saya is completely wrapped in stingray leather, a very meticulous and expensive work for the time. Such sayas are rare and highly sought after by collectors. Considering the details, the wakizashi denotes a lot of personality and maybe the samurai was related to the sea, maybe the area where he was born, etc. Swords with such marked and obvious personalities are not frequent, so it is a historically very attractive piece.
