    2) Smith, school and context

    Mumei blade. According with the details and nakago this sword dates from arround 1650 to 1700, Early to middle Edo period.

    3) Technical blade description

    Well-balanced sugata with an elegant curvature distributed smoothly along the cutting edge. Medium-sized kissaki with a natural transition into the blade geometry.

    The hamon forms a notare-midare pattern with rhythmic undulations and visible internal activity, creating a lively and continuous temper line.

    The jihada displays a clearly visible itame grain with organic texture and good steel openness, giving visual depth to the surface.

    The nakago shows an even, mature patina, a single mekugi-ana, and a gently rounded end shape. Overall preservation is good, with polish lines still allowing a clear reading of the steel structures.

    4) Koshirae technical description

    Complete and aesthetically coherent koshirae.

    Saya finished in black textured ishime-ji lacquer, visually sober and robust. Fittings and end pieces in light-toned material consistent with polished horn. Dark blue sageo.

    Tsuka wrapped in dark green tsuka-ito over light samegawa, with tight and regular wrapping.
    Menuki depict classical floral motifs in gilded metal.

    Fuchi-kashira decorated with refined chrysanthemum motifs in gold relief over a dark patinated metal ground, finely executed and elegant in appearance.

    Tsuba iron maru-gata with deep patina, featuring a floral sukashi opening and gold ornamental details around the seppa-dai.

    A harmonious ensemble where the floral theme is consistently repeated, providing strong artistic unity to the mounting.
